can't get my DSi to turn on
I can keep pressing the button and it works less than 10% of the time; it likes to randomly turn off
Battery's not the problem, it's new, maybe it's just loose. Charge is fine.
This is my only way of getting sketches on my computer, since I don't have a scanner and the 3DS camera is of a much lower quality than the DSi camera. I have a few sketches lying around my images folder, but aside from those no new art until I figure out the problem or get a scanner or something
I've had the DSi since like 2009 so maybe that's the problem

[Tag] Projects (Forlorn Spectre, Manaverse)
(Note: if you got a mention from this and we don't talk that much, it's because I feel like you would enjoy this tag, I'm interested in hearing about your stuff, and I'm very sorry if it bothers you)

(tagged here: )
So uh, hm. Well, the first project to talk about would be Forlorn Spectre and its entire line of canon. This actually consists of multiple projects so I'll go over each of them.
Forlorn Spectre itself is my Nuzlocke trilogy comic which I've teased here and there and started trying to do before deciding to go back and rework things. It was kind of inspired by the various Nuzlockers I follow here on dA,
Oops.
For anyone who was confused at me reuploading a commission I already uploaded: because I update my dA in bulk every few weeks (a bad habit I need to break), I forgot I'd uploaded something already. Sorry about any notifications this might break, and for any favorites lost. The original is still in my gallery though!
Opinions on tracing *to learn*?
Title, basically. I want to know your thoughts on this- while I'm fine with people tracing art to learn composition and anatomy, and in fact often do it myself, I know plenty of people do not agree with the practice.
As for myself I got good at drawing dragons by tracing or heavily referencing other peoples' dragons (you'll notice around the time I started doing headshots of dragons, the description often says "a reference was used" and such). I do this with nearly every human I draw too- either I'm tracing the anatomy from Pose Maniacs, or I'm tracing/referencing another piece of art.
[Signal Boost] Neighbor in financial trouble

Take a look, spread the word if you want to. I would help her but I'm not in much of a better situation myself.
Her art is amazing, if you want to commission her.

3DS photo quality seems about the same as DSi photo quality to me, so long as you turn on the "Low Light" setting.
The plastic wedge on the inside of your switch has probably worn down (depending on how often you've used it) or chipped at some point. You'll probably have to order a new power switch, take your DSi apart, and replace it. Be warned: lots of small parts in there. I've seen my dad take apart a few.
If you've taken it apart before, there's a chance that you could have accidentally damaged or loosened a cable.
